Today, in real time.

Three weeks has gone by since the girls were born …. which I simply cannot believe. Post-partum hormones theoretically no longer an issue, and I still cry just a bit every Monday (at the very least) when I think about how fast time flies now! πŸ˜› The girls are getting so big, I swear, and we’re all just truly enjoying all the time we can get together.

Avery and Elise continue to sleep pretty well. All but maybe one feed per night, we have to wake them up at the 3-hour mark! In the event that we fail to wake up to the alarm…. (it’s only happened twice!), they wake us up after about 3.5-4.5 hours. This is exciting to us, considering that after Wednesday’s growth check, if all is going well we will not be waking them in the middle of the night for feeds! Of course, it will be Wednesday night that they decide they no longer need sleep, but we’re getting our hopes up a bit nonetheless!

Both girls, but especially Avery, are having a bit of difficulty keeping feeds down. Elise has lovely projectile vomiting spells intermittently (every couple of days), but seems to tolerate 3-4 ounces without difficulty at most feeds. Avery, on the other hand, is a bit of a true refluxy baby. We are actually going to start today and log her various ‘episodes’, as well as her poor eating (only ~2 ounces per feed), and see if we can spot a trend … then hopefully get her whatever she needs. I think she is gaining weight (we’ll find out soon!), but sometimes she is so miserable and it breaks my heart!

Our afternoons and evenings have been including increased alert periods, especially “active alert” periods which are a lot of fun. The girls are starting to focus a lot more, purposefully check things out, lift their heads more (Elise’s head control is excellent!), self-pacify most of the time… except when their fingers don’t produce food as readily as they’d like! πŸ˜‰ We honestly can’t imagine our days without them!

The photos from June and the beginning of July are finished as mentioned, and can be found in the “Miscellaneous” sub-albums on the Picasa page (entire album linked to the left, or individual months linked in this sentence). Did you see the “catch up” post, buried under this one? It’s really much more interesting than this one. Still, here are a handful more photos…. and after this, my friends, I am blogging in the present, at least for now! πŸ˜›

  1. Oh my goodness gracious–they are so sweet! πŸ˜€
