Put on Hold

The WDW trip report, along with everything else in our lives, is currently on hold.  The girls started getting sick the day we got back.  As if there weren’t enough reasons to not want to be home…

It started with a cold (Avery), then the horrible coughing fits returned in earnest, even requiring breathing treatments at times (Elise), then a “little” GI bug (both girls).  Now it’s coughing fits (both girls), a little GI bug (Elise) and a monster of a GI bug (Avery).  Avery has taken 7-10 ounces of formula each day for the last 3-4 days.  All while vomiting more than I have EVER managed to in my life (today’s projectile stuff lasted a good 20 seconds, and was just gush after gush after gush, all over her, me and my couch).  All while having 8-10 diapers o’ diarrhea per day, including the lovely water loss stool which makes it impossible to tell if she’s peeing enough.  Sorry for the graphic picture, I have no energy to filter right now.  Trust me, it could have been worse 🙂
Anyway, I’m exhausted.  The coughing keeps me up, the worry about walking a fine line before hospitalization keeps me concerned, the combination of both makes me a total nut.
Believe me, I’m hoping the entries won’t be on hiatus too long.  We haven’t been “well” since January, but that’s just Winter in Cincinnati.  The last two bouts though, where Kyle and I actually get pretty worried and even their doctor was concerned, have been rough.
Please keep both girls in your prayers.  Pray that Elise continues to stay oxygenated despite her breathing and coughing issues.  Pray the same for Avery, although that isn’t my first concern for her right now.  Not because Breathing isn’t, like, the second most important thing in our ABC’s 😉 … but because she’s just “kind of sick” in that regard.  But pray for her otherwise, that she first might take in some liquid, and then eventually might even keep some of it in her.  She’s started acting kind of lethargic today, which has piqued my concern.  Pray for Kyle and I, that we would make the right decisions regarding their care.  We are trusted with a lot because of our backgrounds, but with that comes lots of doubt when you’re a sleep deprived mama who happens to be an RN, instead of just an RN.
I hope the rest of you are enjoying the beautiful weather (at least locally)!  The sunshine sure is nice anyway!

  1. Found your blog through the DIS (I am kellyf2626)…and just wanted to pop-on to say I will be thinking of your girls! My son, Brady, just had this intestinal bug and it was HELL. The amount he would throw-up was both shocking and extremely scary. I hope Avery holds some liquids soon, and that Elise’s breathing is ok. From one mommy to another…hang-in there! 🙂

  2. Oh Jen, we’ll be praying for them. Keep us updated. ((((((Hugs))))))))

  3. Welcome Kelly 🙂 It’s nice to see you here!
