Elise’s & Avery’s First Art Project :)

On Saturday, the girls got to finger paint!

A friend of mine had a brilliant idea around Valentine’s Day to make baby-safe (read: not toxic if eaten!) finger paint out of flour, water and food coloring.

We obviously made four colors, and I just dribbled a bit of each onto colored cardstock and let the girls go to town!

(Do you think someone, somewhere knew (and Stacy knew, and I knew) that babies put things in their mouths? :))

Look at their masterpieces!

And with just a little help from someone old enough to use scissors, they made beautiful Easter eggs for some friends!

The girls had fun, and I’m sure we will have MANY more art projects in our future! 🙂

  1. Jennifer,
The girls Easter egg cards turned out beautiful! I think they are artist in the making! : )

  2. Thanks, Stacy! I really did love the idea when you had the girls paint the Valentine’s… it was so special! I had been looking (and still look) for baby-friendly art stuff, and they just don’t make it until the girls are a bit older. This was perfect!

  3. thank you 🙂

  4. 🙂 The Easter stuff will follow shortly!

  5. very cute and I love the idea and the ingredients.

  6. Thanks, Karen! I hope you are doing all right!

  7. What a great idea!!!!
I have seen something similar to that, but using instant vanilla pudding tinted with food coloring to make edible paint. I doubt that it would dry though…

  8. Thanks Tom! I actually saw the pudding recipe, among dozens of others when I was looking for the measurements for this one. It’s amazing the things people make art projects out of! 🙂 The pudding one (and a koolaid one I saw) does sound more tasty..
