Mason Heritage Festival

Since I was a little girl, I have looked forward to the end of August and the Mason Heritage Fesitval. It always has the BEST parade (you know, among normal “parades” not Disney “Parades”) – lots of bands and dancers, lots of funny little vehicles, lots of candy thrown at toward spectators, lots of animals, etc.

After the ~1 hour long parade(!), there are booths of food, crafts, games, etc as well as concerts, frog-jumping contests (and/or turtle races, depending on the year) and other not-to-be-missed festivities. Even as an adult, I really enjoy spending at least a little time walking around downtown Mason, wishing I still lived there, etc.

We took the girls again this year (they haven’t missed a year, you know!) and they REALLY enjoyed it. Remember how much they enjoyed the 3rd of July Parade in Oxford? Well now they’re older, wiser, more interactive… and even more into parades! (This bodes well for us and our frequent choice of vacation destinations, no?)

But seriously, look how cute —

They also got their first pinwheels, which lasted approximately 3 days after joining our household. And that’s AFTER multiple resuscitations. They sure loved them though, while they lasted!

All in all a very fun morning – but quite exhausting when you’re just one year old!
