Yeah, it doesn’t actually sound like “poop”. It’s really more of a “bip”, but accompanied by the sign for change when Elise needs her diaper changed (because she has pooped). How great is that?! So proud (and a little glad it doesn’t sound too recognizable just yet, since each time Elise says it Avery repeats her over and over!) πŸ™‚

  1. how funny! That is a good idea. I need to look up that sign ASAP! Have you thought much about potty training?

  2. Eh, not too much. I mean, we’ve talked about it and are in agreement that we’ll do it sooner rather than later. I’m all for waiting until the child(ren) is/are “ready”, but to me that means holding pee through the night, telling you about it, etc – NOT Mom: “Do you want to go pee?” Child: “Yes, please”. That’s how you have a kid in diapers for much longer than my sanity would allow! πŸ™‚

We are doing some “pre-training” stuff — talking about pee and poop when they go (fun!), letting them see me going on the potty, signing “change” and “potty” (toilet) when appropriate, etc. You know, just to get the concept through to them so that we can start training in the near future when they are both “ready”. Goodness knows they can follow instructions well when they want, and have lots of other readiness signs. Still, I think it will be a couple of months still.

Longer answer than you wanted, no? πŸ™‚ This is why we need to hang out more! πŸ˜›
