Egg Coloring 2010

This year, I thought the girls would be interested in helping with egg coloring. As you might recall, this is a tradition that I try hard not to pass by. Anyway, I knew that two 21-month-olds might also not be that helpful, so expectations were quite low. So low, in fact, that I bought the most “value” priced Paas kit I could find. It had only three colors, some stickers, and the “magic” crayon necessary for some staple designs. Just fine for this year’s intensity level. Um…. except that the dye didn’t really stay on the eggs, the color (aside from the blue) was lame even with vinegar and no matter how long eggs were left submerged, and the crayon didn’t work. Oh, and the stickers didn’t really stick. Other than that though, we had a good enough time 🙂 (Please excuse the “outfits”. The headband Elise put on herself, and these days when we’re home it’s basic shirts or onesies and no bottoms for potty ease. Someday they’ll wear clothes again….)

After we were finished with our futile attempt to make pretty eggs, of course it was time to eat some! These pictures crack me up, and you know why if you’ve eaten around the girls lately. They are just so typical of their responses to new (or forgotten) foods…
