The Pointe

About 10 minutes away from our house (13 on a bad day) is this adorable little “square”, if you will.

Nestled in the crossroads of some of our favorite shopping centers is one of our favorite places to sit and hang out on a nice Spring/Summer/Fall day. It’s the place I’d sneak to and sit for a minute after OB appointments (in an adjacent parking lot) when I was supposed to be right back home on bedrest. It’s the place my mom and I sat and ate after I suffered through my 3-hour glucose test for no good reason. Now, it’s a place my girls run around, squealing with delight at the “Water Fountain Mountain”.

It’s also home to two of our favorite eateries in the Cincinnati area:
And, just 0.1 miles away (less by foot, I would imagine) is this other place
where Kyle will be working beginning July 1. Did you read that it’s 10 minutes away? And smack dab in the middle of a dozen places where the girls and I spend our time? And 0.1 miles from fantastic places one might meet a spouse/daddy for lunch or dinner? Yeah, that’s cool.
Last night we enjoyed a bit of a celebratory evening with just a taste of what might come when we don’t have to hold our breaths to see if Kyle will be off on Christmas morning or how many terrible night/swing shifts he’ll have on an ED rotation or if he’ll be able to make it to the girls’ birthday party. What might come when he gets to sing our bedtime song with us every night instead of working 80 hours every week and missing every 4th bedtime. When we’ll be able to spend weekends together, and he’ll have more than 3 or 4 days off every 30.
We’re pretty thrilled. And that’s before even mentioning how great an opportunity this job is as a JOB, and not just what it does for our family.
That, my friends, is a VERY bright light shining in our faces as we draw closer and closer to the end of this stinkin’ tunnel! God is good. 🙂

  1. So, will you be staying in your house for the foreseeable future then?

  2. Well, no not really 🙂 I mean, probably a year or so to reduce debt and get in a better place financially to move, but then we still hope to move ASAP to a bit more centrally located part of town (Mason or West Chester, near my parents). Thankfully Kyle won’t have to deal with an hour long commute anymore, but we still hate being 20 minutes from the highway, 20-25 minutes from all of our family and friends and activities, etc. I can’t wait to not have that kind of drive everywhere! 🙂

  3. Jen – I am so excited and happy for all of you. Congrats to Kyle.

  4. How wonderful! Congrats!

  5. Love that “square.” We go to that Graters every time we’re home. We’ll have to meet there next time! I didn’t realize Kyle would be at University Pointe. You may have told me but I never put it together. So excited for you guys.

  6. Thanks, ladies, we’re pretty thrilled! Leah, I doubt I did. I sort of forget you know this area since you don’t live here! 😛
