Three-Minutes with Nolan

March 2014 Recap

Well, I’ll keep up to date one way or another – even if the monthly recaps do continue. ¬†March wasn’t all that busy at home, actually… Nolan and I spent a lot of time wandering his future stomping grounds while waiting for the girls at dance rehearsals. ¬†Class of 2029 (or so) represent! We played on the playground bit too, because he isn’t all about the academics just yet. I also found some invaders in his crib. ¬†It’s been a {Read More}

February Recap

In addition to surprising the kids with a trip to WDW in February, we had other exciting things happen throughout the month. ¬†While we were gone, CHCA had a learning fair. ¬†The girls were sad to miss (until they knew why), but that didn’t stop them from participating still by submitting a project each. ¬†They worked very hard with Kyle and me to do a research project from start to finish! They also celebrated both the 100th Day of Kindergarten {Read More}

January 2014 Recap

I suppose I’ll leave Marathon Weekend for its own post, but otherwise it’s high time I catch you up around here. ¬†The year is once again off to a busy start! In January, Elise and Avery each got a special week at school to celebrate their half-birthday (a little late with actual December birthday kids, Christmas break, etc). ¬†They got to bring something in to share each day throughout their week, as well as a treat on the last day. {Read More}

Trucks, Giant Stoplights and Haircuts

While the girls were on Christmas vacation, we got to go to lunch a couple of times with Pappy! ¬†One time, it was at his work – which all three kids really enjoyed.   In a COMPLETELY unrelated story, Nolan got another haircut last week. ¬†Hmm… I suppose I could have connected the two events via a transportation theme, given that at Cookie Cutters Nolan got to drive both on the playground before his turn and during his haircut. ¬†Alas, {Read More}

Nolan’s Medical Adventure

If you follow us on Facebook, you saw our 9-hour day spent at various locations of Children’s Hospital. ¬†As I think I’ve mentioned around here, Nolan’s linear growth has stopped – and people who specialize in growth aren’t very pleased with his chart since birth. ¬†The most benign (and fairly likely) thing we’re looking at is Congenital Growth Delay, in which he’s just a “late bloomer”. ¬†It’s not in his genes, but it’s not uncommon. ¬†It is, however, a “diagnosis {Read More}

December 2013: Christmas and New Years

So here we are, at my attempt to catch up once and for all. ¬†Oh, one can hope! We had a really, really nice Christmas/New Years. ¬†Lots of time with just the five of us, plus lots of time with extended family, too! ¬†We spend Christmas Eve together playing games and eating dinner, as well as making Rice Krispy Treat trains. ¬†If you’ve been here long you know my opinions on Gingerbread Houses, and I thought this little train kit {Read More}

December 2013 Recap

December brought Christmas, of course, and so much more! We celebrated Grandpa Charlie’s birthday with Grandma and with two of his favorite sweet treats (Butter Pecan ice cream and chocolate-covered pretzels). ¬†The girls woke up thinking it would be really special to celebrate him since we “remember him in Heaven”. The girls’ dance team had their first game – but not at CHCA. ¬†Instead, at halftime of a UC Bearcats game! They also had their CHCA PK-Kindergarten Christmas Program, during {Read More}

November 2013 Recap

Continuing the half-hearted recap of the end of our 2013… In November, we had a lot of fun! We all went on the 5K Step Out walk with families from Kyle’s work, in honor of a staff member’s daughter with diabetes. ¬†The girls walked the whole time! ¬†And because apparently that didn’t wear them out enough, we also took them ice skating for the first time. ¬†You guys, I love skating. ¬†But skating with 5-year-olds is so much harder! ūüôā {Read More}

October 2013 Recap

See here for why all of a sudden I’m a slacker. In October, obviously the cruise trip was a big deal. I’m still going to continue writing about that, but it wasn’t the only thing that happened. Nolan continued going to Gymboree Play & Music classes. ¬†He most enjoys the bubbles, musical instruments, and the freeze dance song!   Elise got a corneal abrasion when she stabbed herself in the eye with a silly straw. ¬†She was fine once she {Read More}
