Marathon Weekend

So… I ran a marathon this year.  Well, I should say I ran *in* a marathon, and finished a marathon walking.  That was my initial goal, to finish upright – and that I did. Twelve hours before the race start, I had no intention of doing it.  This is so true, I’m pretty sure I had two desserts the night before, and definitely had fried food and all sorts of other non-race-friendly food for days before. Oh, and I hadn’t {Read More}

Disney Fantasy: October 18

The kids actually all slept until 7:15, when we went to Cabana’s to watch the ship pull up to Castaway Cay! We quickly got ready to beat the crowd off the boat and to the family beach.  We found a spot and were sitting at the edge of the water collecting shells (just to look!) in no time.  Nolan was so content.  Castaway Cay is the most idyllic, picturesque place I know and the day couldn’t have started off better. {Read More}

Disney Fantasy: October 17

I “slept in” until 7, and was shocked to wake up to a family still sleeping!  We had a nice, laid-back day at sea, so it was the perfect day for this miracle to occur.  The kids were finally up at 7:35.  We made our way to Royal Court for breakfast which was a la carte (instead of a buffet) and oh-so-delicious.  We looked around the different dining rooms at the beautiful princess mosaics since the restaurant wasn’t bustling with {Read More}

Disney Fantasy: October 16

I woke to a definitively broken camera even after dismantling it and letting it air out, so between that and the fear of losing everything on the memory card, I wasn’t too thrilled.  Alas, there were more memories to be made, so off we went… We ate a quick breakfast as the girls excitedly sang “Happy Half Birthday” to Nolan 🙂 then we were off to a day of adventure in Cozumel!  We could see the city waiting for us {Read More}

Disney Fantasy: October 15

The following day was a very low-key one.  The shore time in Costa Maya is very short, and we had no excursions booked – so it was nearly a day at sea. On this particular day, we decided to try breakfast in Enchanted Garden instead of Cabana’s.  The buffet was still impressive if much smaller, and the atmosphere was far more relaxing.  Hanti was working in there as well, and came over to say hi and give hugs and kisses. {Read More}

Disney Fantasy: October 12

On embarkation day, Nolan woke up at 4am – and woke everyone else up by 4:30.  Instead of sticking around the hotel we decided to leave as early as we could (around 7am), praying for naps in the car as we drove around town.  As we drove by the port, we could see her – the Fantasy had gotten in overnight!  The girls lost their mind, even  having only seen the top half.  I may or may not have teared {Read More}

Disney Fantasy: October 11

I was up at 3:30 ready to go – or as ready as I was going to be.  I didn’t jump out of bed, I didn’t have a playlist for the drive, and I was mortified by the amount of luggage we had.  Oh, well.  We were on vacation, and that’s all that mattered! We were Columbus-bound at about 4, with all three kids awake until just before we got to the airport.  Check-in was smooth and we were relaxing {Read More}

Disneyland/California: March 5 and a Wrap-up

Remember that nearly perfect ending I mentioned?  Yeah, let’s pretend our trip ended there.  The night following, as some of you know, all 5 of us at once experienced the most violent Norovirus.  It was worse than I could have even imagined, even in healthcare – and it was all of us, all night.  Oh my gosh,  I wish I could erase that night from my memory. We spent the early morning hours determining whether we could even fly home {Read More}

Disneyland/California: March 4

Our last day at the Disneyland Resort – boo!  There was, of course, so much left undone… but we looked at some options, made our top choices and headed out. We started the day at California Adventure, waiting at Rope Drop to get fastpasses for Soarin’.  First stop after that was Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree.  It was already a 25 minute wait (we are so spoiled, I know!) but it was well worth it.  We hung out in Carsland with Nolan {Read More}

Disneyland/California: March 3

This was the second day we were heading out into the rest of Southern California, and Kyle and I were very excited!  The girls?  Meh.  On and off.  For some reason, driving along the coast looking out the window isn’t all that exciting to 4-year-olds.  They’d live, though, and even enjoy it. 🙂 We hung around the hotel room and played until about 9am since we weren’t in a huge hurry.  After some breakfast we had a nice drive on {Read More}
