PK4 Photo Update

Since I finally update our class photo website today, I figure now is as easy a time as any to throw a few updates on here from the final few months of the girls’ first year of preschool!  That’s right – tomorrow is the last day, which blows my mind.  This year has gone so quickly!  As per the title, this is quite a photo-heavy post The week before Spring break was the class Easter party.  They made a very {Read More}

PJ Day!

The girls’ preschool class studied hibernation a little earlier this winter, so on the last day of their unit they all “hibernated” in their PJs at school and had an extra fun day!

CHCA Christmas Program and Daddy-Daughter Dance

While we’ve been singing the praises of Avery and Elise’s first year of school, there are two more events from 2012 especially worth sharing.  The first is their Preschool and Kindergarten Christmas Concert, which was so beautiful and entertaining.  The kids had all worked very hard all year in music, and were very prepared for their selection of songs.  I’ll have video for you whenever I get to that particular folder (sigh – soon?), but you’ll just have to take {Read More}

Classroom Helper and Holiday Parties

Every other Wednesday, I have the pleasure of going to the girls’ classroom for an hour or so as the classroom helper.  Most weeks I man one of the centers for their learning rotations, or occasionally I help with a paint project or something instead.  Almost every week, I get to go to chapel with the class, too! Some of my favorite days in the classroom, though, have been the two holiday parties thus far!  I’m the class photographer, which {Read More}

Adventure Bear

In Mrs. Dowling’s 4-year-old preschool class, the kids all look forward to their turn with a variety of take-home activities.  There is the “All About Me” suitcase, which they fill with items and pictures to share with the class.  There’s the Writing suitcase, where there are fun pencils and erasers and paper and letter cards and they get to write whatever they want for the week to practice their skills.  Today, Elise was the class weather reporter, after looking at {Read More}

School Pictures and Family Portraits

School Update

So when I picked the girls up after their first day, this is how I was greeted: They were so devastated that some kids got to stay for lunch, and it was already time for them to go home. Now we’re 2.5 months in, and how do they feel?  Not that different.  They’re used to the schedule and there aren’t many surprises there, but they do still love it.  Tomorrow is a random Friday off, and they are admittedly happy {Read More}

"Back" to School Party & Orientation

Since my first year (and likely earlier), CHCA has had a “Back to School” party for each class, to reacquaint and/or meet the kids in your grade before the school year begins.  Apparently, the Soaring Start preschool – at least in 2012 – is no exception. A few weekends before school started, all the kids in the girls’ class were invited to a party at a local park.  They met their teacher, Mrs. Dowling, and played together for a few {Read More}

CHCA Ice Cream Social

This summer, the girls and I got to go to an ice cream social at CHCA.  They got to meet some other kids coming into the elementary school for the first time, enjoy some delicious goodies, meet Isaiah the eagle and play on the playground. To say they’re excited to start school next month is an understatement!  Their mama?  Well she finds it extraordinarily bittersweet.
