Fourth of July

Before we’re buried in snow, I figure I should catch up on these blogs laden with spaghetti strap dresses and summer traditions. July 4th this year was a rainy, yucky mess… so the girls actually chose, when given the choice between doing sparklers in our yard and sitting in the car for Kings Island fireworks (if they happened at all), to stay home and stay dry.  I’m pretty sure anything with the word sparkle would have been an easy sell, {Read More}

IHOP, Touch-a-Truck and the Premier Member Pool Party

One late summer afternoon, it felt like the right thing to do to have lunch at IHOP.  Sometimes you just have to, you know?  The kids were happy with the decision. 🙂  Afterward we went to Monroe for their “Touch-a-Truck” event and to say hello to Pappy.  Everyone had a blast! Finally, to round out a long and very fun day, we went to the Mason Community Center Premier Member Pool Party.  It was a bit warmer than last year, {Read More}

Hilton Head 2013

The Kaufman and Maas families take a yearly trip to Hilton Head, and for just the second time we were able to join them this past summer!  We had a blast, but – as is often the case with beach vacations – I only have a few dozen pictures… many of which are from our epic sandcastle project.  You’ll understand why momentarily. Our family stayed in a condo with Grandma Shelly and Grandpa Mike, Aunt Kelly, Uncle Justin and Bryce. {Read More}

Birthday Parties and Summer Fun

Being in a class with other kids had a perk the girls hadn’t thought of prior to starting preschool… all of the birthday parties! They didn’t even make it to all of them, but they got to enjoy parties at bowling parties, pump-it-up, movie theaters, and even backyard soirees with the largest piñata any of us had ever seen! We also enjoyed our summer spending time at our neighborhood pool and at Kings Island.  The girls are big enough to {Read More}

4 Months in 4 Minutes

So much has happened in the last several months, that most days when I sit down here I just stare at all the things I would have loved to have shared with you.  A few things are going to get their own entries, but in just a few minutes I’m going to catch you up on some of the less major events. Perhaps one of the biggest pieces of news is that we moved into a new house.  When our {Read More}

Dog Days of Summer

At the end of the summer, I started to feel the crunch.  On August 21st, our lives would change forever as the girls started going to school five days a week.  No more daytime activities and free evenings.  For the first time, I’d have just one baby on errands.  (Of course, I’ve since learned that it’s still very different than having just one baby, considering I still have to buy things, think about, and get back to the first two… {Read More}

More Summer Trips

In addition to “camping”, we also went on back-to-back (home 1.5 days in between) quick trips to Tennessee and Chicago this summer! The first, I took the kids and left Kyle at home, to join my mom, dad and sister in Pigeon Forge.  It was super short trip (and made shorter with Elise having a nasty stomach bug the second morning and whole way home), but not too short for a hike, some swimming, and a bit of sight-seeing. Just {Read More}

Elise & Avery’s First Camping Trip

We planned months in advance (and by “we”, in large part I mean my parents).  We counted down for weeks and weeks (and by “we”, in large part I mean my 4-year-olds who were so anxious and excited for their first camping trip that words are not adequate).  Finally, it was the last weekend in June – the big day had arrived! In the blistering heat (you might recall weeks of record highs in the triple digits), we set up {Read More}
